This is a writing project wherein the participant has to write a bit—fiction, usually,
although not in my case—inspired by each prompt offered. There are a hundred.
I've divided these in two ways: by subject and by number.
Individuals, families, dynamics among people
- Birthday and holiday and festival, and the
inspiration of infectious joy.
- Children who have always been free versus teenagers
who've broken free from a school.
- Christmas, Christians, and the folks in the not-so-free
side of the homeschooling movement.
- Family-centered learning, the merits of it, the
disadvantages.
- Friends, and that old chestnut about socialization.
- Lovers, boys, girls, androgynes: how unschooling deals with
subjects of sex and gender.
- Parents and why they should believe in this stuff.
- Teammates: unschooling in a community sense.
- What?, as in an incredulous question: dealing with people
who simply don't get it.
- Who is a free person; what are they like?
Regarding schools and "teaching"
- Broken: what's broken about the standard ideas
of education.
- Enemies of unschooling and their reasoning. Rather a
mean-spirited title, but I had to use that prompt. :P
- Lunch in a school cafeteria: an excellent example
of something gone very wrong indeed.
- Rain and the erosion of oppressive systems over time,
as rain erodes rock.
- Spring, renewal, regrowth, coming back to normalcy
after being hurt by the system.
- Sunrise isn't a great time to get up for most people,
and schools put stresses on teens' natural sleeping hours.
- Winter is when we most need sunlight and fresh air,
but schools can keep you cooped up.
